Muwazu Chisum-Misquitta is a freshman attending Mills College and an aspiring elementary school teacher, with a diverse background in music. She started playing clarinet in 3rd grade, lasting through middle school. She received singing encouragement from her music teacher Randy Porter in the 7th grade, learning songs from Bésame Mucho to Afro Blue. She has sat in countless places around the Bay Area, and has received 350 dollars from Oakland Tech’s annual talent show two years running. She believes that everyone should have access to listening, learning and, or playing music is essential because of its positive impact on her life.
