Henry Plumb is an award winning drummer from Lafayette, CA, currently majoring in Performance at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Showing an affinity for rhythm and music early on, he started taking drum lessons at age 5 from Oakland based multi-instrumentalist Eric Lenchner. In 6th grade he began to study Jazz and take drumming more seriously, participating in the advanced jazz band at Stanley Middle School under direction of Bob Athayde, as well as many extra curricular groups. Over time he has become well versed in a variety of styles, including Swing, Gospel, Funk, Fusion, Rock/Pop, Reggae, Latin/Afro-Cuban, New Orleans Second Line, and Odd Time Signature music. In the words of esteemed saxophonist and educator Paul Contos,β€œHis innate ability to commandeer many styles is paramount, attributing to his passion, and is supported by his practice regimen and disciplined work ethic.” In recent years, Henry has played regularly with The SFJAZZ Highschool All-Stars and SFJAZZ Monday Night Band, bi-coastal big band The Kyle Athayde Dance Party, the NY based Nate Sparks Big Band, Bay Area collective Jazz Mafia and its founder Adam Theis, the Overjoyed Gospel Ensemble at Berklee, lead by Dennis Montgomery, and many others.
