Gianna is a 17-year-old violinist who plays both classical and jazz, as well as other styles of music. She has attended Orange County School of the Arts since 7th grade, and will be a senior in the fall. She started out with classical violin at the age of 4, and jazz at the age of 8. She has played at the local “Crêpes and Grapes” restaurant in Uptown Whittier, as well as various other venues across Orange County and Los Angeles. She has won awards at several competitions such as the Reno Jazz Festival and the Fullerton Jazz Festival, and has played at the annual Monterey Jazz Festival with the Next Generation Women In Jazz (NGWIJ). She has been featured in April’s edition of Downbeat Magazine for winning 2020’s overall High School Honors Jazz Soloist nationwide. She has also won several awards from The Music Center’s Spotlight and the National YoungArts Foundation. Gianna is part of the Colburn School’s Jazz Workshop’s award-winning combo directed by Lee Secard, as well as the top combo and big band at her school. Gianna continues to play violin, but also has a love for her mandolin and upright bass. After graduation, she plans on attending college as a music major.
